Google Caffeine is the codename for a total update of the algorithms Google is using for their search engine. It has been in testing since early 2009, and is expected to go live in early 2010. The word is that Google Caffeine will be a major change in the way Google looks at websites to rank them.
Along with this, Google is testing their revamped software architecture that will be the engine for their other applications. These changes will remain in place for years, so it behooves us to learn all we can about them now. In fact, Google is playing down the effect on their ranking system, but they are more into changing the indexing software to improve speed, and reliability.
Google intends to use their file system GFS2 underneath Caffeine. professional seo services had been working on this system for the last two years. This is probably the biggest factor in the increased index size. For instance, if you do a search for dog:
Old: Results 1 - 10 of about 51,900,000 for Dog [definition] taking.25 seconds
New: Results 1 - 10 of about 359,000,000 for Dog [definition] taking.12 seconds.
The new search engine is expected to work extremely fast. In testing, the SERP's (search engine results) pages load twice as fast as the version in use today. This emphasis on speed will also be important to your website in that Google will make load time for your pages a more important factor than it currently is.
The word is that fresh content will also be more important to high ranking. The sites that are regularly updated will enjoy higher ranking. Also, there is to be more emphasis on domain authority, which will be an added push towards deep sites.
